    Small Harmonies

We can certainly live harmoniously together and close the space that separates us through open and truthful discussions of our assumptions about each other, our real differences and commonalities.  Are our assumptions real? Are our differences significant?  What do we have in common? It would serve us well to discuss our assumptions, assess them and find common ground.  Maybe we have explained our assumptions before, but need the opportunity to reiterate and restate our truths.  Open discussions are essential and can hopefully result in renewed  understandings, reasonable solutions and peace in our relationships. We must pay attention to the state of our relationships so that any remaining desire for harmony…

    Day to Reset

We are human.  Change can be stressful no matter how cool, calm and collected we usually are.  Demanding circumstances can result in adverse mental, emotional or physical symptoms. We can become tired, short tempered or have flare ups of health conditions that had been dormant.  We must pay attention to our changing selves. Yes, ourselves.   It seems less challenging to observe and monitor the behavior of others. During a time of change, we have to take notice and listen to our mind, soul and body.  It may be necessary to break from our routine and make time to address any adverse mental, emotional or physical symptoms.  We may need a…

    Happy Healthy Wise Wealthy

We determine what makes us happy, healthy, wise and wealthy.  We determine what makes us content in these areas by assessing our personal journey, where we came from, where we are and where we intend to go. If we find that we are not content, we can make a new start now, the first day of the year, the first day of the week, on a birthday or even on an anniversary.  It’s totally up to us.  We can choose and knowing that alone makes us happy, healthy, wise and wealthy. Setting mini or intermittent goals and completing them in our own time move us in the direction of our…

    Measure of Love

Love as an action word is sometimes measured by the actions of another toward us.  If the person loved us, they would do this or that.  Are we being reasonable? We are loved, but maybe not always as much as we want, maybe not always in the way that we want and maybe not always when we want. Perhaps our expectations of love are not equal to the love that another is capable of giving and vice versa.  We feel love when we give love.  Search for balance.

    The More

Yes, it is human to want more, to be more, to do more.  We must appreciate what we have, who we are and what we have already accomplished.  We must do well where we are. The more will follow as we live and learn, as we value and appreciate the present moment and as we expect the more with grateful anticipation.  The more will come.  Do well now.

    Time To Decide

It is time for us to decide to lose the weight that we have been talking about losing.  We have access to so many healthy and sustainable weight loss tools.  There are free apps that will help  us count calories and track our progress.  Most foods are labeled and include bar codes for scanning. Measuring cups and spoons are readily available to help us reveal and correct food and beverage portion sizes. We can decide to establish new eating patterns that are sustainable.  We can incorporate food and beverages that we like into our daily intake.  We can break our weight loss goal into smaller more manageable parts, for instance,…

    Time of Gratitude

It’s alright to be grateful when we see other people with greater health problems than our own.  At the entrance of a specialist office, we will see many broken people, some on crutches, some using canes, some bent over and unable to stand up straight.  We can be overwhelmed by the view. There is a sense of relief when our name is called almost immediately.  We leave the waiting room, so much pain in one room.  We are relieved once more and grateful that our diagnosis did not require surgery.  However, it did require physical therapy exercises and over the counter pain relievers. Fortunately, our pain was worse prior to…

    Time to Vent

Complaining is not meant to be a daily constant.  It is a call for solutions, a sign that we need to change our behavior, our surroundings or our perspective.  Everything is not wrong, but constant complaining is. Ask questions: What is the complaint?  Where is the complaint taking place?  When is the complaint taking place?  Why?  Is it valid? What is our preferred result? How can we achieve our preferred result? Healthy venting, on the other hand, is meant to lower our level of anxiety to a point of calm so that solutions can come to us.  Plans can then be made and implemented to get the preferred result, to…

    Peace of Time

Take time to make peace with past moments.  Accept that it is impossible to change them, but certainly possible to learn from them.  Move forward with those new lessons and make today better.  Improve your health in body, in mind and in soul by choosing what to eat, what to think about and what to meditate on. The Serenity Prayer works. We can seek the serenity to accept the moments that we cannot change, the courage to change the moments that we can and the wisdom to know the difference.
